This Notification Circular includes notices that are required to be given to the public, submitters and appropriate government agencies, under the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991 (FSANZ Act). PROGRESS ON APPLICATIONS AND PROPOSALS
Details on the urgent Proposal from the notice below were published on 21 January 2010 in The Australian and The New Zealand Herald newspapers, as well as on the FSANZ website.

CALL FOR SUBMISSIONS
URGENT PROPOSAL
FSANZ has declared that a specified proposal [Australia only] prepared under section 95 is an urgent proposal for the purposes of Part 3, Division 4 of the FSANZ Act:

DECLARATION OF URGENCY
I, Trevor Webb, an authorised Delegate for the purposes of section 95 of the Food Standards Australia New Zealand Act 1991(‘the FSANZ Act’), hereby declare under paragraph 95 (1)(b) of the FSANZ Act that in order to protect public health and safety, Proposal P1012 – Semi-dried Tomatoes & Ingredients – Traceability & Processing is an urgent proposal for the purposes of Part 3, Division 4 of the FSANZ Act.

FSANZ has prepared draft variations under section 96 and invites interested persons and appropriate government agencies to give written submissions about the drafts to FSANZ by 6pm (Canberra time) on 1 February 2010.
