The purpose of this User Guide is to help food businesses, food officers and other users interpret and apply Standard 1.2.10 – Characterising Ingredients and Components of Food. Specifically, this User Guide will help you to identify the ingredients and components in food products that may be defined as ‘characterising’ and to determine the proportion of those ingredients or components to be declared. You will also find worked examples for a range of common foods.
