FSANZ56 - 4-5 December 2013

At its 56th meeting held in Canberra on 4-5 December 2013, the FSANZ Board approved one draft variation to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code.

This decision has been notified to the COAG Legislative and Governance Forum on Food Regulation. The Approval report summarising the reasons for this decision is available at the above link.

Teleconference - 30 October 2013

At its 30 October 2013 teleconference, the FSANZ Board approved a number of variations to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code).

These decisions have been notified to the COAG Legislative and Governance Forum on Food Regulation. The Approval reports summarising the reasons for these decisions are available on the FSANZ website.

FSANZ55 - 18-19 September 2013

At its 55th meeting held in Canberra on 18-19 September 2013, the FSANZ Board approved two draft variations to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code).

These decisions have been notified to the COAG Legislative and Governance Forum on Food Regulation. The Approval reports summarising the reasons for these decisions are available on the FSANZ website.

The Board also considered the Draft Assessment Report (Abandonment) – Proposal P236 – Sports Foods. The Board agreed to abandon the Proposal.

The Board also called for submissions on the following Proposal on 1 October 2013.

Financial statements

The Board formally approved FSANZ’s financial statements for 2012-13 following the completion of the annual audit by the Australian National Audit Office.

Teleconference - 28 June 2013

At its 28 June 2013 teleconference, the FSANZ Board approved one variation to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code).

FSANZ54 8-9 May 2013

At its 54th meeting held in Canberra on 8-9 May 2013, the FSANZ Board approved one draft variation to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code) arising from the following Application.

This decision has been notified to the COAG Legislative and Governance Forum on Food Regulation. The Approval report summarising the reasons for this decision is available on the FSANZ website.

The Board also called for submissions on the following matters on 23 May 2012.

FSANZ53 - 6-7 March 2013

At its 53rd meeting held in Wellington, New Zealand, on 6-7 March 2013, the FSANZ Board approved two draft variations to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code (the Code) arising from the following Applications.

Standard 1.2.7 – Nutrition, Health and Related Claims – Transition Period

The Board noted a report on the proposed approach and timelines for work relating to Standard 1.2.7 – Nutrition, Health, and Related Claims to be undertaken during the three-year transition period for the Standard.

Labelling Review

The Board noted an update on FSANZ’s activities in respect of recommendations arising from the Labelling Review which were referred to FSANZ by the Legislative and Governance Forum on Food Regulation.

FSANZ Fellows Program

The Board considered and endorsed the appointment of Dr Jason Riis as a FSANZ Fellow. The Board agreed that Dr Riis’ extensive research background and experience in the field of behavioural economics would be of significant benefit to FSANZ’s work.

During its meeting in Wellington, the FSANZ Board met with the recently appointed New Zealand Minister of Food Safety, the Hon Nikki Kaye. The Board also took the opportunity to meet with a range of industry, consumer, public health and government stakeholders during a function held on the Wednesday evening.

At its 13 February 2013 teleconference, the FSANZ Board approved one variation to the Australia New Zealand Food Standards Code(the Code).
