Opening or Downloading Files

Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) documents are published on this site as portable document format (pdf) files and as Word documents.

Pdf files published on the website have been printed using Adobe Acrobat Distiller 5.0, and to be read require the installation of Adobe Acrobat Reader 4.0 or 5.0. A free copy of Adobe Acrobat Reader 5.0 can be downloaded from the Adobe Acrobat site. If you do not have pdf reader then Download pdf Reader here.

Some of the larger documents on the site have been published as Winzip archives containing pdf files. Opening of Winzip archives requires the installation of Winzip, a free copy of which can be downloaded from the Winzip site.

Foods Standards Australia New Zealand has provided these links for your convenience, and does not endorse any of the products.

Occasionally a pdf file will not open from a browser (Internet Explorer or Netscape). A more reliable method of reading a pdf file is to save it first and then open it using Adobe Acrobat Reader.

To avoid time outs or delays in accessing PDF file formats on the website, the following steps will allow the pdf or Word document to be saved to your PC. A pdf file will be displayed as (pdf .... kb)

  • Place cursor on file to be opened( link will be highlighted )
  • Right click mouse and text box will appear. This should open a menu, which includes an option of either 'Save Target As...' (Internet Explorer) or 'Save Link As...' (Netscape).
  • Click on 'Save target as' and another text box will open - ' Save as '. This will enable you to save the document selected to a specified destination, ie to your desktop or hard drive.

Please note: These steps are consistent with the browser - Internet Explorer and PCs. Wording may vary slightly with other browsers and computer systems.

If you encounter any difficulties in reading or downloading files, particularly older versions of pdf files, please contact the Web Manager by email webcomments@foodstandards.gov.au or by phone on (02) 6271 2271 for assistance.
