(July 2017)
In 2007, FSANZ commissioned Campbell Research & Consulting
to conduct a two-part survey, which included a telephone survey with managers
or supervisors of food businesses to measure safe food handling knowledge
(n=2,300) and an on-site Observational Survey of food businesses to measure
actual food handling practices (n=916). This research was a follow up to a
similar research study conducted in 2001, prior to the introduction of the Food
Safety Standards. Comparison of the Telephone and Observational Survey results
between 2001 and 2007 demonstrates increased knowledge of safe food handling
and improved food handling practices since the implementation of the Food
Safety Standards.
This research was conducted as part of the FSANZ Evaluation
Strategy 2004-2008. More research conducted as a part of the Evaluation Strategy is also available.
