Committees and groups

FSANZ manages a number of committees and groups through which it engages with consumers, industry representatives and public health professionals. The main groups are detailed below.

Consumer and Public Health Dialogue 

The consumer and Public Health Dialogue (CPHD) is a forum through which FSANZ can engage in deeper and more meaningful consultation between key public health stakeholders and consumers. The objective is to improve FSANZ's awareness and understanding of community food and health issues and public health priorities and provide a more effective food regulatory response through this communication.

CPHD consists of representatives from peak consumer and public health bodies, public health academics and Indigenous representatives from both countries.

Binational Food Industry Dialogue

The Binational Food industry Dialogue (BFID) provides an opportunity for FSANZ to engage in ongoing dialogue with retailers, manufacturers, primary food producers and peak bodies. The objective is to improve information sharing on common issues of interest, provide industry perspectives on prospective areas of standards management, enhance industry understanding of FSANZ processes, and share information and collaborate on matters arising from significant food incidents. 

These groups do not provide scientific advice to FSANZ.

Engaging scientific advice

From time to time, FSANZ seeks scientific advice from experts working in research agencies, universities and other organisations. Working with these experts helps build our knowledge and facilitates a greater understanding and consensus on the science underpinning our work.  

These experts help us by collaborating on projects or as members of scientific advisory groups.
