Classifications

Published

Classification or coding systems are needed to group similar foods for reporting intakes and trends over time. The study used 3 classification systems to report:

  • foods/dietary supplement and nutrient intakes
  • intake of discretionary/non-discretionary foods
  • intakes against the Australian Dietary Guidelines.

These systems were based on those created for the 2011-13 Australian Health Survey with updates to reflect the current food supply.
